LibreCAD 1.0.2 Final is a CAD program for two-dimensional drawings to be developed for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Released as Open Source and is ideal for beginners. LibreCAD 1.0.2 Final has a rich palette of tools for creating and modifying points, lines, arcs, circles, ellipses, splines, polylines, texts, ovals and more. Moreover, the program can handle planes and blocks (groups of objects). Print a given scale "capture" of objects, a library of symbols and dimensioning tools are just some of the other features of the program. LibreCAD 1.0.2 Final is still in the stage of development.
A little over a year saw the arrival of LibreCAD 1.0.2 Final, a design project CAD platform until then called CADuntu based on the QCad Community Edition and the Qt libraries. And now has come the first stable version of LibreCAD 1.0.2 Final, which is already beginning to see clearly the alleged change of course on QCad.
Thus, in addition to that being cross-platform and open source (QCad does not meet both) has updated the user interface using the Qt4 libraries (the other project has preferred to remain in the Qt3 version) has built a plugin system to enable and disable features are added by default the auto saving designs and improved import DXF files.
Of course, much work remains to be done, for example to add support for the DWG format. Also much work remains in terms of project documentation because the documentation had to be removed QCad to launch this project under the GPL. Still, those wishing to get to know some of this CAD software can leverage much of the documentation QCad since both projects share quite yet.
And though such news, developers have little time to celebrate as they are already starting work for what will be LibreCAD 1.0.2 Final, which is expected to be much faster but will also include features such as a new bonding system screens, grids isometric layout and separation angles, new possibilities for plotting circles, ellipses, common tangents to two ellipses.
